Place proud of junior teams
Bermuda’s teams tasted defeats in the final day of the Junior Fed Cup and Davis Cup tournaments in San Salvador, El Salvador at the weekend.In the boys’ Junior Davis Cup match, Courtland Boyle and William Way lost their singles matches 6-3, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-0 to finish 12th overall.Bermuda’s girls’ team came eighth in their Junior Fed Cup division with Eva Frazzoni and Taylor Mcharg both losing their singles matches in two sets.Despite the losses, Bermuda Lawn and Tennis Association (BLTA) president Coleridge Place was encouraged by the performances of the Island’s youngsters.“The executives and board members of the BLTA would like thank the team for a job well done with the junior Davis Cup/Fed Cup event,” he said.“This is a great start to our return to this event, we are very pleased about everybody's team effort.“You have done Bermuda proud and we salute you all.”The 2013 pre-qualifying champion nations were the Dominican Republic in the Junior Davis Cup and Puerto Rico in the Junior Fed Cup.Both nations will now compete in the qualifying proper in May in a round robin format with the USA, Canada and Mexico.
