Man of the Run 5K to raise awareness of men’s health

A new race, the men’s only Man on the Run 5k aimed at raising awareness of men’s health issues like prostate cancer, will be held on Sunday, starting and finishing at Warwick Academy.

The race is the brainchild of volunteer Clifford Roberts Jr, an avid runner and cyclist and former top footballer who believes men need to be more open about their health issues.

“Prostate cancer is not something men like to talk about, but bringing men together for an event like this will encourage natural conversations about the importance of early detection in saving lives,“ said Roberts.

The Man on the Run race and walk for seniors and juniors will begin at 8.30am outside the Academy and is in aid of the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, with each runner helping to raise money for their men’s health programmes.

Men can register online at www.racedayworld.com with number pick up being held at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, 46 Point Finger Road on Saturday between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

For more information visit www.movember.bm or Movember Bermuda on Facebook and to register visit www.racedayworld.com.

The Man on the Run 5K ties in with the current Movember campaign, which has a 2013 focus of MOVE.

Movember Bermuda aims to forever change the face of men’s health through the power of the moustache, by raising vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues to combat prostate cancer and other cancer and diseases affecting men.
