Pacers put on golden display

Successful trip: Outerbridge and Tuzo were part of the Pacers team that came away with 11 medals

The eight-member Bermuda Pacers Track team won 11 medals at the 23rd Central Florida Gliders Spring Track Classic at the Lake Brantley High School Campus Stadium in Altamonte Spring.

Selah Tuzo had two firsts, while Jayden Ming won a gold and a silver and Leekaysia Burch two silvers during Saturday’s meet.

Za’Kayza Parsons took the gold in the 100 and 200 metres, and grabbed silver in the long jump.

Tuzo placed first in the 11-12 girls mile event, breaking the tape in 5min, 39.96secs, almost six seconds ahead of the second-place runner.

Tuzo also won gold in the 800 metres final, clocking a winning time of 2:29.10.

Ming won the 13-14 boys 3,000 metres in 9:51.29, with Ryan Outerbridge, also of the Pacers, finishing third in 10:15.19. Ming won the silver in the mile event in 5:07.67. The winning time was 5:05.14.

Burch won silver medals in the 13-14 girls shot (9.34) and discus (19.78), while sprinter Clevonte Lodge won a silver in the 13-14 100 metres in a time of 12.28 seconds and a bronze in the 200 metres final in a time of 25.07 seconds.

Taylor Hines won a bronze in the 13-14 girls 400 metres final, clocking a time of 1:02.22, while the winning time was 1:01.47. Hines just missed out on a medal in the 200 metres final, placing fourth in 26.88.
