Squad named for Toronto Games

Duffy is confident of at least a top-ten finish in Toronto

The Bermuda Olympic Association have named a squad of 17 athletes who will compete in seven different sports at next month’s Pan Am Games in Toronto.

The squad includes some of the Island’s top athletes, including triathlete Flora Duffy, long jumper Tyrone Smith, middle-distance runner Lamont Marshall, cyclist Dominique Mayho and swimmer Lisa Blackburn.

Judy Simons, the president of the BOA, said she was confident the team would make Bermuda proud.

“Bermuda has assembled a strong team for the Pan Am Games,” she said. “All of our athletes have worked extremely hard to get here, and we are proud to have them represent our country at this major competition.

“This will be Bermuda’s thirteenth Pan Am Games, and we are looking forward to the competition in Toronto.”

Carlos Lee will travel with the team as chef de mission.

The Games run from July 10 to 26.
