Mallory chosen to attend overseas camp
Trey Mallory has been selected to attend an International Tennis Federation/South America Confederation training camp for elite juniors.
The camp, held in Florianopolis, Brazil from December 2 to 8, will be for five boys and girls aged 15 to 16 from the Caribbean, Central and South America.
Mallory will be the first Bermudian to attend the camp, where João Zwetsch, a former Davis Cup captain for Brazil, will be the lead coach.
He will be assisted by Brazilian Davis Cup coach Marcelo Melo, who recently won Rolex Shanghai Masters double title, Patricio Arnold from Argentina, a high-performance co-ordinator, and Thiago Alves, a former ATP player, and Arthur Rabelo, an ITF junior coach.
Mike Wolfe, the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association’s president, said: “It is exciting to think that our top junior player is going to be training with such high calibre individuals.
“Trey has put in the hard work, training long hours, representing Bermuda in ITF team events and it’s paying off. To be selected among a vast talent pool is a real testament to his dedication to the sport.”
