Argus has been confirmed as the new lead sponsor of the Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby as the iconic event gets set to celebrate a 110 years of the race.

Argus joins other sponsors including s Burrows Lightbourn Ltd, BGA Wholesale Distributo, Appleby, Rubis Energy Bermuda, Rayclan Limited, Beyond Fitness Bermuda, Bermuda Skyport Corporation, Fairmont Southampton, The Reefs, Smiler’s Tuning and Repair, Travel Edge and the People’s Pharmacy, as the Derby Committee aims to reignite the community spirit originally set alight in 1909 on the day the first race was run.

Gina Tucker, the Derby Committee president, said: “I am simply thrilled about this celebratory year and am extremely grateful for the support shown by Argus as our new lead sponsor.

“Our shared legacies of commitment to the health and wellness of our community create a perfect partnership to take the Derby to the next level.

“We have so much in store for both the running and broader community and I encourage everyone to be part of the celebration. This year is sure to be the biggest and best yet.

“We are truly appreciative of all of our generous sponsors for this year and those of yesteryear. We would not have made it to 110 years without them. I am pleased to disclose that the Derby has donated close to $110,000 to local charities and deserving individuals since 2007. With the help of the whole community, we can continue to make an impact.”

This year, the race will be held on Friday, May 24, with the route starting in Town Square, St George’s, at 9am and ending in Bernard Park.

Participants can choose between running the full Derby or joining a relay team. The minimum age for participation is 16 for the full race and 12 for the relay.
