PwC to sponsor Triangle Challenge races

The Bermuda Triangle Challenge weekend has welcomed PwC to its roster of sponsors, which means all the individual distance races for the three-day event in January now have a headline sponsor.

It is an impressive turn around for the event after it was held this year with no headline sponsors tied to its mile, 10K half-marathon and marathon races. PwC has been announced as the exclusive lead sponsor for the half-marathon and marathon races on January 19.

“We applaud all athletes who will be challenging themselves to complete these gruelling races, and we look forward to congratulating those runners who will complete the half or full Triangle Challenge during these Sunday races,” said Colm Homan, Partner and assurance leader for PwC Bermuda.

“At PwC we are focused on helping to create communities where people and businesses can thrive and we are confident that our commitment to the Bermuda Triangle Challenge will provide an atmosphere where all participants, volunteers and spectators will be treated to a brilliant and unique sporting experience.”

The event will mark the 45th anniversary of its origins, which was the first Bermuda International Marathon in 1975.

The running festival has previously been known as the Bermuda International Race Weekend, and the Bermuda Marathon Weekend.

Freddie Evans, chairman of the Bermuda Triangle Challenge, said: “PwC has a long history of supporting the Bermuda charities with volunteer support and financial contributions.

“As we continue to strive to improve running experience for the 2020 Bermuda Triangle Challenge race weekend, all of our athletes, visitors, spectators and volunteers will benefit significantly from the generosity of PwC. We couldn’t be more excited by the addition of a partner of PwC’s calibre to this event.”

The first day of the three-day festival features the Front Street Mile. In July, Butterfield Bank was announced as the exclusive lead sponsor of that event. At the same time, BF&M Ltd was named lead sponsor for the 10K walk and run, which is held on the second day.

The weekend concludes with the half-marathon and marathon on the third day.

The full marathon has a new route for 2020, and will start in Dockyard.

The Bermuda Triangle Challenge takes its name from the competition created within the weekend of events, where participants sign-up to compete on all three days, doing the mile, the 10K, and either the half-marathon or the marathon on the final day. The three-day event runs from January 17 to 19.

Registration for the 2020 Bermuda Triangle Challenge is now open for all events and participants looking to compete can go online and register at www.bermudaraceweekend.com
