Butterfield & Vallis 5K set for weekend

Local runners will have another opportunity to hit the roads this weekend with the Butterfield & Vallis 5K set for Sunday.

The Bermuda Heart Foundation are the recipients of the race proceeds and the race will launch their Heart Month events for February.

The races starts at 8.30am with a 1k race for lower primary students.

At 9am the Primary and Middle School boys and girls will run the 2.7k route and at 9.30am the Senior School students and adults will run 5k. Walkers will start five minutes after the runners.

A cash prize of $500 will be awarded to the Primary, Middle and Secondary schools/junior groups with the most entries.

Draw prizes will include two bicycles from Winners Edge and Sportseller vouchers, while BF&M have donated activity trackers to all category winners.

There will also be a corporate prize for the company with the most entries.

The first 1,000 participants at number pick-up will receive a goodie bag filled with products from Highland Spring, Planters, Jif Peanut Butter, Axe, Ronzoni, Pepperidge Farm and Kraft Punchers plus a fabulous dri-fit shirt courtesy of New York Presbyterian Hospital.

The first 1,000 finishers will receive a fun fidget spinner medal and all age group prize winners will receive a gift certificate and a special event ceramic mug.

To register, go to www.racedayworld.com. Paper entries are available at the Sportseller, at both Butterfield & Vallis locations and should be dropped off at the Sportseller.

Paper entries close tomorrow at 4.45pm, while online entries close at 6pm on Friday.

Late registration and number pick-up will be on Saturday between 10am and 1pm at Butterfield & Vallis.
