Lindo’s race to raise awareness of diabetes
Lindo’s Group of Companies is once again hosting its annual Lindo’s to Lindo’s races on Sunday, March 8.
The Lindo’s to Lindo’s is intended to be a fun family event with the double purpose of raising funds and awareness of diabetes in Bermuda, to assist the Bermuda Diabetes Association.
Participants will take the usual route between Lindo’s Family Foods in Warwick and Lindo’s Market in Devonshire, along South Road and Middle Road for a ten-kilometre run or a Four-mile walk.
In addition to raising money for a good cause, entrants will also secure a goodie bag and tee shirt if they are among the first 700 participants to register.
There is also the chance to win a prize if additional funds are received through a pledge sheet available on line and attached to the entry forms.
All participants who raise an additional $100 through pledges are eligible for a draw to win a round-trip ticket for travel to the US East Coast, donated by Jet Blue.
“Diabetes awareness, prevention and care is an issue close to our hearts at Lindo’s and we are pleased to support the Bermuda Diabetes Association in their incredibly vital work,” Zach Moniz, Lindo’s Family Foods manager, said. “We encourage everybody to come out on March 8 to show their support and to enjoy the fresh air.”
Sara Bosch de Noya, diabetes educator, at the Bermuda Diabetes Association, added: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Lindo’s once again for the Lindo’s to Lindo’s.
“We are so grateful for the continued support of the Lindo’s family and for their commitment to helping Bermudians make healthy choices when it comes to food, ensuring they have access to fresh and healthy groceries.”
Prizes will be awarded to winners in various categories in the 10K Run, as well for the fastest competitive walkers in the Four-Mile Walk and for the school and company that enter the most students or employees to either event.
The funds raised this year will be of huge importance to the charity in the final stages of completing Bermuda’s first fully comprehensive Diabetes Resource Centre where all services necessary to support and educate those with diabetes will be available in one location.
