Butterfield & Vallis 5K to be held virtually

The Butterfield & Vallis 5K will kick off the 2021 race calendar on Sunday, albeit virtually.

The event is usually one of the largest running and walking events, with close to 1,000 participants, but because of the Covid-19 restrictions in place, competitors are being encouraged to “stay safe, stay strong and stay healthy” by completing either 5K or 2K in their own bubble and neighbourhood.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bermuda Heart Foundation, while children who enter are encouraged to name their school. The primary school, middle school and secondary school with the most entries will receive $500.

Drive-through number, shirt and goodie bag collection will take place at Butterfield & Vallis on Woodlands Road on Saturday at 2pm. Masks and hand sanitiser are required, and participants are urged to stay in their cars.

The first 1,000 participants at number pick-up will receive a goodie bag filled with products from Highland Spring, Planters, Jif Peanut Butter, Axe, Ronzoni, Pepperidge Farm, Hefty and Silk as well as a safety orange dri-fit shirt.

Draw prizes include two bikes from Winners Edge, Sportseller vouchers and Bookmart vouchers, while BF&M has donated seven activity trackers. Prizes will be drawn on Monday.
