Friendship Trophy and Shield draws result in intriguing quarter-final encounters

Dandy Town, the Premier Division league leaders, have been drawn against St George’s Colts in the quarter-finals of the Friendship Trophy.

The draw was made yesterday at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence by Shannon Burgess, the BFA competitions committee chairman.

PHC, the first team drawn, were pitted against Southampton Rangers, the last team to win the trophy in the 2019-20 season. PHC have the most wins in the competition, 12, one more than North Village and Somerset who were eliminated in the preliminary round along with Somerset Eagles, crushed 7-0 by Devonshire Cougars in midweek.

The other two matches will see X-Roads playing Devonshire Cougars while Devonshire Colts will take on Robin Hood.

The Shield quarter-final draw was also made with Boulevard drawing Paget in the first match-up, while Vasco were matched with league leaders Hamilton Parish.

The other two matches will see Wolves playing St David’s and Ireland Rangers taking on Young Men’s Social Club.

The Friendship and Shield matches will be played in February and March, with the dates and venues to be confirmed by the BFA.
