William Frith finishes third in US junior squash tournament

Strong showing: William Frith, right, who finished third competing in the US Junior Squash Bronze Tournament in Norwalk, Connecticut

William Frith finished a good third in the US Junior Squash Bronze Tournament in Norwalk, Connecticut on Sunday.

Frith breezed through his first round match, winning three consecutive games, but faced tougher competition in the semi-final when going down to the eventual winner of the Boys Under-15 Division.

But he bounced back in the third-place play-off match, winning all three games to seal another 3-0 victory.

A national squad player, Frith has been runner-up in the Bermuda Junior National Championships Boys Under-15, Under-13 and Under-11 over the past four years.

Frith started last year at Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts, and made the Varsity squash team. Frith had a strong season winning all of his matches against junior boarding schools, while also being competitive against senior boarding schools such as Andover, Deerfield and St Pauls, Eaglebrook.

He is now looking to add to his recent success next year as a fifth former and to play in more US junior tournaments.
