Bermuda name team for CCCAN Championships
Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association have named a nine-member team, ranging in age from 11 to 41 to represent Bermuda at the Central American and Caribbean Championships (CCCAN) in San Jose, Costa Rica starting next week.Lisa Blackburn is the oldest and most experienced member of the team at age 41 while Ashley Irby is the youngest at 11. Blackburn recently competed at the Pan American Masters Championsips in Sarasota, Florida where she won four events and shattered Canadian Masters records along the way.Also in the Bermuda team are Rebecca Heyliger (20), Stephanie Myles (20), Rebecca Sharpe (21), Ashley Yearwood (18), Andrew Beveridge (19), Jesse Washington (13) and Shannon Hassell (13).The Championships will be held over five days, starting next Monday at the Maria Del Milagro Paris pool. The team leaves for Costa Rica on Saturday and will return next Saturday.Accompanying the team will be National coach Ben Smith and team manager Janice Irby.
