Swimmer Washington claims silver medal
Jesse Washington has claimed a silver medal at the Canadian Age Group Championships in Montreal.In a meet that drew 900 swimmers from Canada and other countries, Washington didn’t disappoint.He produced a personal best in the 100 metres freestyle on his way to the podium in the Under-14 boys division.“Jesse is capping off his swim season in fine style,” said national swimming coach Ben Smith.“He qualified for the final in first place and produced a new personal best of 54.56 seconds to take the silver medal.“His chief opponent for the gold medal was just 7/100ths of a second faster.”Emma Harvey was also competed at the championships in the 50 metres backstroke, reaching the final.She finished in seventh place in a time of 34.24 seconds.Action continue yesterday as Washington, along with Madelyn Moore, swam in the 50 metres freestyle.
