Watson-Brown claims bronze in Florida
Logan Watson-Brown won Bermuda’s only medal at the Union Americana de Natacion Swimming Cup in Coral Springs, Florida, at the weekend.
She claimed third place in the 13-14 100 metres freestyle event in a time of 59.79sec.
Gabriela Pitman also competed in the 100 13-14 freestyle, finishing thirteenth in 1:02.16. She placed eighteenth in the 100 backstroke.
Watson-Brown just missed out on another bronze when she finished fourth in the 50 backstroke, clocking 31.98.
She then had another top-ten finish in the 50 butterfly, finishing sixth in 30.42, with Pitman placing sixteenth in 31.88.
Sam Williamson came close to winning a second medal for Bermuda in the 13-14 boys’ 100, where he finished fifth in 1:12.24.
Brian Desmond was thirteenth in the 13-14 50 backstroke, clocking 31.27, while Jack Harvey was one place behind in 31.41.
Ashley Irby was 22nd and 31st in the 15-17 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Skyler Powell finished 26th in the girls’ 15-17 100 backstroke.
The meet featured 28 Central American and Caribbean countries.
It served as a qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, this summer, as well as the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, next year.
