Bermuda swimmer Madelyn Moore is expecting “bigger things” to come from her remaining two events at the Pan American Games.

Moore finished seventh in heat one of the women’s 100 metres butterfly in a time of 1min 06.15sec in her opening event at the Aquatics Centre yesterday.

She returns to the pool today in the 100 freestyle heats before competing in the 50 freestyle tomorrow.

Moore and her team-mate Jesse Washington arrived in Lima last weekend, just days after competing at the World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.

“I didn’t have the race I wanted, but it’s to be expected after coming back from South Korea, really long travel, and I’m still a bit tired from it,” Moore, 19, said.

“It is what it is and you just have to move on to the next event, The 100 fly isn’t really my event. Tomorrow it’s the 100 free so hopefully that will be better. The next day is the 50 free, which is my main event, so I’m expecting bigger things.”

Washington, 20, placed eighth in heat three of men’s 100 butterfly event in 58.54 and came sixth in heat one of the 200 freestyle in 1:56.52.

He will also compete in the 100 freestyle heats today.

“I look forward to the 100 free tomorrow and the 50 free the next day,” Washington said. “In the future I will be working on more strength for butterfly and my 200 free.”
