Emma Harvey qualifies fastest for 50m backstroke final at CAC Games
Bermuda’s female swimmers made a huge impact in the opening session of their Central American and Caribbean Games campaign by qualifying for the 50 metres backstroke final.
Emma Harvey led the way, winning heat one in a time of 28.75sec. That time means she is the fastest qualifier for the final, which takes place at 9.29pm Bermuda time on Saturday.
In the same event, Maddy Moore touched the wall in 29.47, enough to qualify fourth overall to ensure Bermuda has two huge medal hopes going into tonight’s evening session.
Bermuda also qualified for the 4x100 mixed relay final after finishing with the fifth-fastest time in the heats.
The team of Harvey and her brother Jack, Benedict Parfit and Moore finished fourth in heat two with a time of 4:05.13 but qualified in fifth overall.
Parfit and Jack Harvey were out of luck in the men’s 100m freestyle, nissing out on the final after both finishing eighth in their heats.
