Swimmers take part in Winter Age Group Championships
Jack Harvey returned to Bermuda to compete in the Winter Age Group Championships at the weekend.
Harvey racked up the highest individual score at the event for a male athlete, picking up 755 Fina points for his performance in the 200 metres backstroke, in which he stopped the clock at 1min 55.97sec.
The 21-year-old, who competed for Bermuda in the Olympic Games in Paris this year, also won the 100 metres backstroke and the 100 metres freestyle
Jorgia White produced the best individual performance by a female swimmer, scoring 566 points in the 200 metres freestyle after finishing in 2:13.31. White also picked up the high points award for female swimmers aged 15 and over, racking up 3,406 points across seven events to beat Lila Connolly (3,015) and Emilia Dunkerley (2,289).
Logan Jones topped the standings for boys aged 15 and over on 3,303 points with Thomas Cechini (3,095) and Jamie MacFarlane (2,575) finishing second and third.
In the youngest age category of 10 and under, Eva Desjardins picked up first prize in the girls competition on 1,553 points with Sloane Wright (1,061) finishing runner-up and Madeleine Friend (583) rounding out the podium. Owen Fosker (891) was the boys winner, beating Joseph Twilley (531) and Niklas Bock (475).
Evelyn Fahy and Jacob Leclerc were best of the swimmers aged 11 and 12 with Fahy (1,642) edging out Tabitha Ball (1,640) by just two points. Iris Duda (1,606) finished third.
Leclerc (1,394) had a more comfortable margin of nearly 100 points over runner-up Ethan Smith (1,296), with Walker Smith (1,276) in third.
Scarlett Spurling proved the dominant swimmer among girls aged 13 to 14 with a total of 2,825 points. Isla Cooze (2,535) and Freya Lau (2,359) chased her home. Dominic Wright swam his way to success in the boys division with 2,692 points. The podium was completd by Gabriel Maranzana (2,420 points) and Rory Shepherd (2,191).
