Xbox was top-selling console in April
SAN FRANCISCO (Bloomberg) Microsoft Corp said its Xbox 360 player was the top-selling video-game console in the US last month with 297,000 units purchased at retail. Xbox 360 sales were up 60 percent from a year earlier, Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft said yesterday in an e-mailed statement, citing industry tracker NPD Group Inc.Retail sales of Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 3 console grew 13 percent from a year ago, the Tokyo-based company said in an e- mailed statement, without citing unit sales.US retail sales of consoles, software and peripherals such as Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensing controller reached $961.2 million, a 20 percent gain from $802.4 million a year earlier, Port Washington, New York-based NPD said in an e-mailed statement. The NPD figures do not measure digital sales of games.
