Q: Why isn’t it safe to save documents on my desktop?A: There are several rules you should always follow if you want to avoid potential loss of documents and other files.Rule #1: Never save anything on your desktop that you can’t afford to lose. Documents saved to your desktop are held within your user profile which is not the same as your personal drive (H :) and will be lost if your profile becomes corrupt or your system crashes. Additionally, others are able to access these files freely if you fail to shut down or lock your PC when completing your session.
