What’s ahead?

The CES tradeshow held in Las Vegas every January is the hot spot for all emerging technologies big and small and sets the pace for what we can expect to see in the year ahead.In addition to the awards presented for categories such as cameras, cell phones, PCs, emerging technologies and many others are the prestigious CES Best in Show and the People’s Voice Award.2012 Best in Show- LG 55EM9600 OLED TVLG does it again, as they take home the prestigious Best in show for their 55” OLED ultra thin unit which is just over ⅛” thick. This model doesn’t require a backlight and is said to contain an additional white sub pixel. The 9600 comes equipped with streaming capabilities, passive 3D TV and all the “extras” that we have come to expect from LG.Anticipated launch date is September 2012 and pricing is expected to be on par with LCD models within the next 4 years.2012 People’s Voice — Razer Project FionaLooks like Razer has decided to enter the tablet business and efforts have been well received by consumers as they were presented with the People’s Voice award. Their 10.1” screen, Windows 8 based operating system and extreme resolution of 1280x800 megapixels is intended to blow the competition out of the water. The real selling proposition for Razer is the portability of the device.Images of the award winning device show controllers attached to either side of the tablet and whether or not they are removable is yet to be confirmed. Anticipated launch date is sometime during the last quarter of 2012.Let’s take a quick look at some of the other products that were earmarked for success this year.Fujifilm X-Pro1 camera — exciting developments are happening at Fujifilm as they released their X-Pro 1 in January, a sleek looking, mirrorless camera. Intended for professionals, but definitely a must-have for avid photographers who enjoy taking portraits or stills. The X-Pro 1 can also shoot video in 1080p so it does more than just take great photos.Each of the new all glass lenses come equipped with aperture rings and they are available in 18mm, 35mm, and 60mm sizes.Nokia's Lumia 900- is a WP7 (windows phone 7) based and it is clearly a product created with input from Nokia and Microsoft, a strategy which is intended to boaster confidence in WP7. The Lumia 900 boasts an 8 megapixel camera with an F2.2 aperture and focal length of 28 1.2 inches.
