Pre-sales for the iPhone 5 will begin September 12, the same day Apple is expected to unveil the new device at a media event, according to a new report.The report, from the website iMore, says the information comes from two sources who have proved accurate in the past.The site says that while the sixth-generation iPhones won’t be available to US customers until September 21, there will be hardly any gap between the phone’s unveiling and the start of pre-orders.Another report cites a source at AT&T who confirmed the iPhone 5 will launch in either the third or fourth week of September.A second wave of iPhone 5 launches, for international markets not included in the September 21 launch will come in early October, likely October 5, the report indicates.There are also rumours that Apple may use September to launch other new mobile products, including the iPad mini.Meanwhile with the expectations of a new iPhone hitting shelves soon, retailers are looking to get rid of their inventories of the current models — slashing prices to do so.
