Q: What is a character map?A: A character map allows us add symbols/characters that are not visually displayed on our keyboards. You can find hundreds of characters, some examples would be the British pound £ or the registered trademark symbol ®.To locate these go to the start icon then into programs, accessories, (systems) tools, character map. You should now see the character map, start by ensuring the font displayed at the top of the map matches the font you are currently using. Locate the symbol/character you require and hit select and then copy. When you return to the document you wish to use the character on, simply select Ctrl + V (at the same time) and the character will appear.
