IT professionals meet to discuss privacy
The Bermuda chapter of ISACA will host a panel discussion on privacy and data protection entitled Privacy in Bermuda and Beyond: Are We Ready for PIPA?
The event will be at the organisation’s annual general meeting on March 1 at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club.
The panel will feature Marisa Stones, senior analyst at the Government’s Privacy and Pati Unit; Kimberley D. Caines-Best, senior legal counsel, Argus Americas; Melanie Fullerton, senior counsel of Walkers (Bermuda) Limited; and Brett Henshilwood, partner, Deloitte Bermuda.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Alex White, the Privacy Commissioner of Bermuda.
ISACA, which was previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, serves a broad range of IT governance professionals and is eager to regroup with its members and to discuss the topical issue of privacy and data protection.
The outgoing president of ISACA Bermuda Chapter, Kateryna Gorbunova, said: “This will be the first in-person event held by our chapter in three years. I am excited to lead our comeback with a discussion around the key topic of privacy.
“The board of the ISACA Bermuda Chapter is looking forward to catching up and networking with our members and old friends, and to meeting new faces in Bermuda’s IT community.”
Mr White, himself a member of ISACA, said: “There’s no time better than 2023 to discuss the major issues facing information technology governance.
“While we often think of cybersecurity, risk management, or data privacy as separate fields, they involve overlapping responsibilities that make each component critical to protect individuals from harm.
“I’m delighted to join our local experts to explore these topics in both the global and local context at the ISACA AGM.”
Both ISACA members and non-members are welcome to attend the event and are encouraged to register.
