Trey Mallory was left with no regrets following his exit from the International Tennis Federation Men’s World Tennis Tour M15 in Kingston, Jamaica on Wednesday.

Mallory had done well to progress to the main draw of 32 after seeing off tough opponents in the qualifying stage but lost in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) to American Corey Craig.

“I ran into a real all-around solid player today who didn’t miss,’’ Mallory said.

“I have no regrets on how I played as each game was tight. My dad always tells me that I should learn from my losses and that’s exactly what I’ll do.

“I will be staying in Jamaica for another week to train then travelling to Miami for a tournament. I’m then meeting the Bermuda Davis Cup team to travel to Paraguay for this year’s Davis Cup.”

Trey’s father Ricky, who was there to witness his son earn his first professional points, thought the 22-year-old played well and will have learmt some valuable lessons for his time in Jamaica.

“Trey played well and most of the games went to deuce, but he just couldn’t capitalise on the break points,’’ Ricky Mallory said.

“Credit must be given to his opponent who played unbelievable and did not miss. Trey will learn from these types of matches and that style of player as he continues his quest through the professionals events.”

In the qualifying rounds Mallory defied the Jamaican heat to blaze past No 6 seed Fabio Nestola, of Britain, 6-3, 6-0 on Sunday and followed that by beating tenth-seed Lucca Pinto, of Brazil, 6-0, 6-2 in the second qualifying round.
