William Frith appointed squash captain by US school
One of Bermuda’s rising squash stars William Frith has been named as co-captain of the Eaglebrook School varsity squash team in Deerfield, Massachusetts.
His appointment comes on the back of an undefeated 2024-25 season, with the 15-year-old successful in the Moses Brown Middle School Invitational last month.
“I’m really grateful that my final season at Eaglebrook is the team’s strongest,” Frith said.
“I am proud of this team winning the Moses Brown Middle School tournament for the second year in a row. We are working hard to remain undefeated through the rest of the season.”
The budding star made great use of his Christmas break when he came home to compete at the National Junior Championships in December. By reaching the final of the under-19 competition, which he lost 3-0 to Andrew Cox, he became the youngest player to make it to the title decider in that age group in more than 20 years.
A product of the Bermuda Squash Association’s junior programme, Frith has been part of the national squad under Micah Franklin for five years.
He was a member of Bermuda’s teams for the past two editions of the Junior Caribbean Squash Championships and us again looking forward to flying the island’s flag, this time in the under-17 age division this summer, when the action takes place in Cayman Islands.
Franklin described Frith as an important member of Bermuda’s junior squad.
“Williams is a valuable asset for our squash team,” Franklin said. “Not only for his squash abilities, but also for his leadership and enthusiasm.
“His energy really helps the team morale stay up. He’s putting a lot of work into his game and I’m very happy with how he’s progressing.”
