Airline worker stands out with 'Beautiful Bermuda' message

A veteran Delta Airlines worker was commended by Tourism Minister Patrice Minors, after a frequent Delta flier to Bermuda sang her praises in promoting the Island.Delta cabin head Beverley Oakes, who has worked on the airline's Bermuda route for 31 years, was presented on Saturday with a framed copy of the letter sent to the Minister.She also received a certificate of recognition, and crystal glasses engraved with an image of Bermuda.The letter writer, John Swift, praised Mrs Oakes for consistently announcing the destination of Delta's Atlanta-Bermuda route as “Beautiful Bermuda”.The Minister said: “This kind of recognition certainly doesn't cost us much in the way of time and effort.“However its lasting effect is something that is priceless. And this weekend I was thrilled to have an opportunity to meets Mrs Oakes in person and extend the Ministry's thanks for all she does on behalf of Bermuda tourism.“It's my hope to continue to recognise those individuals who go that extra mile to make a positive contribution to our overall tourism product.”Mrs Oakes said she nowadays only works on Delta's Atlanta-Bermuda route as she likes Bermuda so much.
