Tourism promotional tour ends with new website

Bermuda’s promotional tour of four US cities ended earlier this week in New York. The Department of Tourism has held similar events in Boston, Baltimore and Atlanta over the past two weeks. The new websitewww.GoToBermuda.com launched yesterday. The site offers more friendly navigation and incorporates social media.Other aspects of GoToBermuda.com include more in depth information about all of Bermuda’s activities, including visitor attractions and sporting and cultural events. It also saves approximately 40 percent in maintenance costs for the Ministry. The latest event was held at New York City’s Grand Central Terminal’s historic Vanderbilt Hall on Wednesday. The team held a series of activities throughout the day, which included performances from the Gombeys, live music by local musician Randy Lambert and Tempo, Bermudian food favourites, local hotelier presentations and a special evening rush hour Bermuda shorts fashion contest. One photo blogger, dpixel365, appeared to enjoy the event. The mother, who does not blog under her name, said she hoped to come to Bermuda soon. She wrote: “The Vanderbilt Hall was beautifully decorated in pink and white. Some of the men and women wore Bermuda shorts. They even held a ‘proper’ Bermuda shorts Fashion Show, which was very very funny. There was live music and of course the dancing.“Kids and adults got to learn a four minute dance piece which they performed for everyone who walked by. I got a pink TShirt also!”Tourism Minister Patrice Minors held a special dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for approximately 60 travel representatives.Related websites:www.dpixel365.wordpress.comwww.gotobermuda.com.
