Business Development Minister in NY to raise Bermuda’s profile

Business Development and Tourism Minister Patrice Minors is in New York trying to take a bite of the Big Apple’s investment.Ms Minors is attending a selection of business and leisure events this week to try to raise the profile of Bermuda. The Minister hopes to spread the word on what it’s like in ‘paradise’ so that she can reinforce Bermuda’s reputation as a premier leisure and business destination.Yesterday Ms Minors attended a luncheon hosted by Brides Magazine and officially accepted an award on behalf of Bermuda. In the popular wedding magazine’s survey, Bermuda was ranked six among the world’s top 20 honeymoon destinations.Ms Minors said: “This recognition is extremely gratifying as it reflects the respected opinion of not only a leading national magazine such as Brides, but also top travel professionals whose jobs are to help couples find the perfect destination to begin their new lives together.”Today Ms Minors will address the inaugural Invest Caribbean Power Forum at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square.The breakfast meeting takes place from 7.30am to 9.30am.The title of the event is ‘Investing In Paradise’ and other panellists include, Martin Mohabeer, the managing director of Spackman Group and CEO of Spackman Capital, W. Dave Dowrich, vice president of Goldman Sachs, and David Brillembourg, CEO of the Brilla Group.The investment event is being co-presented by digital media company Hard Beat Communications and The Caribbean Tourism Organisation.Felicia Persaud, CEO of Hard Beat Communications, said: “The power will be packed into one room today in New York City.“No other place will there be so many ministers and commissioners of government from the Caribbean and money managers and investors at one time.”
