Toronto-area station broadcasting from Island for two days

A Canadian radio station has been broadcasting live from the Island after giving 25 lucky listeners the chance to feel Bermuda’s pink sand in between their toes.CHFI-FM has broadcast its breakfast show from Grotto Bay Beach Resort for two days in a row yesterday and today.Morning radio personalities Erin Davis and Mike Cooper interviewed Bermudian ‘ambassadors’ to highlight the Island’s key selling points for Canadians.The marketing initiative has seen CHFI-FM, which broadcasts to the greater Toronto area, working closely with the Bermuda Department of Tourism.Tourism Minister Patrice Minors said: “We are excited to partner with such a prominent North American radio station.“Our relationship with CHFI-FM is helping to further develop the already strong marketing presence our island has in the Canadian community.”The radio station’s promotion has also seen the DJ’s giving away free trips to Bermuda for 25 people. The winners are currently in Bermuda enjoying a four-day vacation courtesy of WestJet Airlines and Grotto Bay Beach Resort.JP Martens, general manager of Grotto Bay Beach Resort, said, “Our Canadian business has been very strong due to our appeal to the nearby Canadian market and the fact that our property features a great all-inclusive package.“We are looking forward to hosting the winners from CHFI-FM’s ‘Erin and Mike on the Beach in Bermuda’ contest at our resort over the next week. We believe this partnership will further boost our Canadian business.”
