Rick Astley’s dark and stormy night
British pop singer Rick Astley has recalled a visit to Bermuda which coincided with a “perfect storm”.In a travel interview in the UK’s Daily Telegraph, he recalled Bermuda’s then more formal dress code and his nerves. The singer of “Never Gonna Give You Up” said: “The day before the storm everybody was wearing shirts and ties at dinner I hadn't realised there was a dress code and had to buy a jacket and tie out there but come the next night, people were just hanging out in whatever clothes they fancied and nervously drinking at the bar as the storm began raging outside.“It got worse and worse throughout the evening and then they woke us at 4am we were staying in a little wooden cottage in the grounds and asked us to come into the main building. That was a very scary walk.“In the main building they had taped up all the windows. It was an amazing thing to go through and quite frightening looking out to sea and wondering if this storm was going to involve a tidal wave. After the storm we all helped with the clean-up. Then the next night they made us all put our jackets and ties back on for dinner. Ridiculous!”
