Fairmont Southampton is rated among best resorts for a third year
The Fairmont Southampton is on a roll when it comes to impressing its guests after being recognised in a world travel survey for the third year in a row.Readers of Condé Nast magazine have voted the resort in Southampton in their top 15 Atlantic resorts.George Terpilowski, managing director of Fairmont Bermuda and general manager of Fairmont Southampton, said: “We are honoured to be recognised by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine for the third year in a row.“Our placement on this prestigious list is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our colleagues at the resort.”The Fairmont Southampton, which is Bermuda’s largest hotel, is no stranger to being recognised by Condé Nast as it has notched up a number of accolades over the years.In 2002 it was honoured as one of the world’s best places to stay and in 2003 it earned a spot on the magazine’s gold reserve list.Then in 2009 and 2010 it was named among the top resorts in the Atlantic and in 2010 it was also recognised as one of the top 80 golf resorts in the world.The 24th annual Reader’s Choice Awards, which will feature in the November issue of the magazine, are based on a survey which asked readers to rank their best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels and resorts worldwide.A total of 28,876 readers voted in this year’s survey and resorts were rated on their food/dining, location, overall design, rooms and service.The Reefs was named the top resort in the Atlantic, Rosewood Tucker’s Point came in at fourth, the Pink Beach Club was tenth, the Fairmont Southampton was 11th and Cambridge Beaches was 14th.As previously reported by The Royal Gazette, in the same reader awards Bermuda was crowned Best Island in the Caribbean/Atlantic.To see the results of the Condé Nast Traveller Reader’s Choice Awards visit www.concierge.com/tools/travelawards/readerschoice.
