College Weeks kicks off in Bermuda this weekend for the first time since the boom years of tourism in years gone by.The first batch of students from Canada and the United States will be flying in for the launch of a series of Spring Break Events scheduled to run through to March.The Bermuda Department of Tourism announced the new effort to relaunch the once popular initiative last year.The 2012 Spring Break series has been heavily promoted since then through a host of social media outlets.Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert said: “Postings on the various social media sites have created a great deal of buzz and excitement for the return of Spring Break in Bermuda.“Bermudian students studying abroad were asked to get involved by promoting Bermuda as a perfect destination to escape the cold North American winter for spring break.”Over the course of next week they will be the main focus of events and activities specially designed for them.There will also be a host of promotional giveaways through the support of local companies, plus discounts at participating restaurants and local attractions.Passes are free with valid indentification for all students currently enrolled in college or university, including the Bermuda College. Non-students, 18-years or older have the option of buying a Spring Break pass at Coco Reef for $100, which provides access to all the events planned.The schedule, which begins on February 18, features a number of events that will be repeated until the Spring Break finishes up on March 16. The line-up includes a “Party on the Rock” at Horseshoe Bay, a “Three Olives” boat cruise, a “How Loko Can You Go” pool party at Coco Reef and “Wet n Wild” Thursdays at Snorkel Park.Other events include “Nightlife Parties” at the Deep, the Rumbar, The Cellar, Docksiders and Moon Nightclub.Event passes can be pre-ordered online at www.gotobermuda.com/springbreak, or for more information e-mail springbreak[AT]bermudatourism.com
