Bermuda gets attention in UK
Bermuda’s new tourism brand ‘so much more’ created a buzz at the launch of the World Travel Market in London for more than 45,000 industry professionals this week, according to the Department of Tourism.Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert is leading the local contingent of hotel representatives pitching Bermuda as a tourism destination.The event, attended by more than 45,000 travel industry professionals and more than 2,500 media representatives, is geared to generate business opportunities before key audiences. The Minister also landed interviews with The US Travel Channel which reaches 96 million viewers across America.Included in the Bermuda line up of booths are representatives from the Fairmont Hotels, Grotto Bay, Elbow Beach and Cambridge Beaches. Bermuda tourism representatives from Italy and Germany are also in attendance.Guests were treated to surprise VIP appearance by a Queen Elizabeth II impersonator at the department’s annual trade partnership awards presentation on Monday.She presented three awards with the Minister to British Airways, Classic Collection and Saga Holidays. Also accompanying the Minister is Miss Bermuda Rochelle Minors and a troupe of Bermuda Gombeys.
