Bermuda sunrise shots return for US TV viewers

Good morning: US TV audiences will be able to enjoy live shots of Bermuda during CBS’ ‘This Morning’ show.

Millions of television viewers in the US will be getting a bird’s-eye view of several Bermuda beauty spots this summer when live shots of the Island are broadcast during a popular morning programme. The scheme was set up by the Bermuda Broadcasting Corporation in conjunction with US network CBS last year, and several live shots from a camera located at the Fairmont Hamilton Hotel aired during CBS’s ‘This Morning’ show last October. The pictures, which aired between news segments, featured views of Hamilton Harbour and were accompanied by a weather graphic. The initiative was temporarily shelved because of technical problems, but BBC head Rick Richardson says the firm is now in position to have the broadcasts “fully fired up throughout this summer”.And the company is expanding the number of views available by setting up cameras at five different locations.Mr Richardson told The Royal Gazette: “We have been working with Logic and BTC to deliver individual live shots from no fewer than five locations around the Island as the Princess shot was far too restrictive.“BTC have confirmed fibre at five locations including The Reefs and Elbow Beach and we have, through BTC, recently installed a ten- meg line to deliver the stream from our building here in Devonshire to the studios in New York.“At the moment we are trying to improve a feed from the Challenger Banks offices in the building erected by Sir John Swan — Seon Place. The shot from that building gives us a panoramic view of Hamilton harbour and picks up the South Shore.”The Bermuda temperature and graphic showing our weather conditions, is still carried weekday mornings on CBS ‘This Morning’. The resumption of the live shots with multiple sites will soon follow.”
