Travel chiefs hope show will help BA deal take off
An episode of the hit television programme The X Factor that was partly filmed in Bermuda will be aired in the UK this weekend.
And travel industry chiefs are hoping that the star appeal of the talent show’s judge Louis Walsh will entice UK residents to visit the Island.
Mr Walsh and former N-Dubz singer Tulisa were here last month along with six competing bands to film the ‘judges’ house’ slot of the programme, staying at the Fairmont Southampton hotel.
And British Airways, in partnership with the hotel, is now offering a cut-price deal for anyone inspired by the programme to take a vacation here.
The package provides return flights from London’s Gatwick airport and seven nights at the hotel for GBP1,139 — approximately $1,700 per person, or $3,400 for a couple.
The offer is available for travel between October 29 and December 11. Typically a seven night vacation at the hotel during the off-season could cost a couple close to $4,000.
The airline is also offering deals on flights to Cancun in Mexico, Los Angeles and the French Riviera — the venues where the show’s three other judges filmed their segments.
The ‘judges’ houses’ episodes will air over three nights on the UK’s ITV channel this Friday at 9pm, Saturday and Sunday at 8pm.
