Rewards for tourism ambassadors

Certified Tourism Ambassadors are to be treated to a series of tourism experiences as a reward for serving the island’s visitors.

A test drive in a Twizy electric minicar through the cobbled streets of St George’s, watersports at Blue Hole and a cliff jump at Admiralty House Park are among the thrills available.

According to a press release from the Bermuda Tourism Authority, ambassadors responded with enthusiasm.

The CTA appreciation week starts next Monday and will end with a sunset celebration at Tobacco Bay on September 8.

Bermuda Tourism Authority COO Karla Lacey said: “We’re pleased to again recognise the important role of CTAs.

“Each year we’ve looked to showcase their contribution to fulfilling Bermuda’s promise as a hospitality destination, and to reward their efforts to turn every interaction into a positive and rewarding experience for our visitors.”

There are 1,083 locals with current certifications.

The majority of CTAs are in the hospitality and tourism industry, but hundreds more from various business sectors were trained for the America’s Cup as part of the First Mate Volunteer Programme.

Ms Lacey added: “Having a substantial number of CTAs with first-hand experience of visitor engagement during a major event is especially valuable as we head into the first of three World Triathlon Series events in April next year.

“CTAs are on the front line every day and are helping to provide quality service that sets Bermuda apart from its competitors.”
