BDA Watersports reopens for business

Zane DeSilva, the tourism minister, welcomes the reopening of BDA Watersports, a family business that ran from 1990 to 2019 out of Somerset (Photograph supplied)

BDA Watersports, a family-run business run for more than 30 years from Robinson’s Marina by Somerset Bridge in Sandys, is back in business.

Zane DeSilva, the tourism minister, said the company had been “integral” to Bermuda’s tourism since its founding in 1990 by Tony Roache.

Mr Roache retired last year, but the company has been brought back by his son, David Roache, and partner Shima Sarabi.

The business started out with kayak tours and lessons, but expanded to give jet ski tours, boat rentals, kayaks, paddleboards, fishing and snorkel equipment.

Mr DeSilva welcomed the facility back and thanked the new owners for their “continued commitment to our island home”.
