Coco Reef reopening
Coco Reef Resort is to reopen next week on a limited basis, the property’s general manager said yesterday.
Rehanna Palumbo said the 60-room hotel on Paget’s south shore will operate from Thursday through Sunday.
She said: “That is the island’s leisure pattern.”
But Ms Palumbo admitted: “Advance bookings are very slim. Our key feeder markets of New York, Boston and Miami have been affected by Covid-19.”
She said overseas visitors who have booked trips to Bermuda appreciate the island’s strict Covid-19 testing protocol.
Ms Palumbo said: “The requirements we have in place are good because the people who are coming are people who really want to come to Bermuda.”
She said the hotel was seeking to “entice” residents interested in a “staycation” as well as offering “day passes” to the property that include access to the hotel’s private beach and pool, plus lunch.
Coco Reef laid off its employees once the airport closed in March.
The beachfront resort normally operates with 45 staff in-season, but Ms Palumbo said she did not know yet how many staff would return.
