Bermuda was highlighted as one of the best travel destinations for 2021 by a major international travel magazine.

Condé Nast Traveler included the island on its list of 21 best places to go this year alongside Angola, New Zealand, Italy and New York City.

Writer Kristin Braswell said that Bermuda’s British roots were still on show, but the island had embraced its diversity.

She said: “There's an increasing number of experiences that speak to the diasporic history of the island and celebrate Bermuda’s black culture, with new initiatives focusing on black travellers.

“An online hub spotlights black entrepreneurs, including street art tours and restaurants like Art Mels Spicy Dicy, and island-wide itineraries and historic stops along the African Diaspora Heritage Trail.”

The story also highlighted the new airport terminal building and the St Regis hotel in St George’s, which is scheduled to open its doors in April.

Ms Braswell said: “Bermudian white roofs and sea foam green painted shutters will pay homage to the island’s style, but it’s the vivid turquoise water at the resort’s location on St Catherine’s Beach that’s sure to steal the show.”
