The Bermuda Tourism Authority has named new vice-presidents of experiences, operations and finance after a series of internal promotions.

Tashae Thompson has been promoted to the position of vice-president of experiences, Jakai Franks has been named vice-president of operations and Duncan Beveridge has been named vice-president of finance.

Ms Thompson, a 15-year veteran of the tourism industry, recently led development of the St George’s Seafood and Swizzle festivals and worked to highlight historical and cultural assets into visitor experiences for Bermuda Restaurant Weeks.

She said: “I have always believed in either finding a way or making one. I know I am on a purposeful path and look forward to continuing to be of service to my country.”

Mr Franks has served as the operations manager of the Bermuda Visitor Services Centre in December 2018. Since then, he has worked on the “Purchase for a Purpose” initiative to support restaurant workers affected by the pandemic and helped to launch an e-commerce platform for the island’s visitor centres.

He said: “I’m delighted to be chosen as the vice-president of operations for the BTA. I plan to bring innovation, and my years of managerial experience, to the authority to help our employees and stakeholders better position Bermuda as the pristine destination we know it to be.”

Mr Beveridge joined the BTA in 2014 as finance director after more than two decades of work on the finance side of the hospitality industry.

He said: “Working for the BTA over the course of eight years has been rewarding, and a career highlight. I accept this new post of vice-president of finance with pride and look forward to continuing to assist the authority as we blaze forward.”

Tracy Berkeley, the interim chief executive of the BTA, said the organisation was working to optimise its teams and processes to “align with the landscape of our evolving industry”.

She added: “I am extremely proud of Tashae, Jakai and Duncan, and look forward to working alongside them as we continue to move Bermuda forward.”
