A popular Hamilton outdoor eatery will be closing for the off-season next week.

Last orders at the Hamilton Princess Hotel’s 1609 restaurant and marina bar will be taken on Sunday, November 20.

A spokeswoman for the hotel said that cooler weather was the reason for the temporary closure.

She said: “1609, its marina Bar, as well as food and beverage service at the Princess Beach Club have been the hotel’s summer season dining outlets as they are outdoor locations.

“Though it can still be warm weather to dine at these locations, as we approach the winter shoulder season, the weather becomes less predictable for the outdoor outlets.

“To avoid disappointment, the hotel drives the dining experience to Crown & Anchor with the option for dining on the outdoor covered terrace with heat lamps, if the air becomes cool.

“We also have our new indoor restaurant, Intrepid, which also incorporates outdoor patio dining with protection from the weather.”

A date for the reopening of 1609 will be announced early next year.
