The Bermuda Tourism Authority has invited entrepreneurs to submit ideas for visitor experiences as it reopens its Experience Investment Programme.

The Experience programme, launched in 2016, has invested $4 million into the economy by supporting innovative experiences centred on curated tours, food, live music, events, culture and other sources of entertainment.

Applications can be submitted between February 1 and February 28. Successful applicants can receive up to $75,000 in funding but must be prepared to cover some of their own costs.

Tracy Berkeley, the interim chief executive of the BTA, said: “Bermuda is a vibrant country, and a vast part of our appeal is our residents. We are a group of dynamic, creative and innovative people. Programmes such as these allows us to combine our cultural and tourism offerings, creating an enhanced Bermuda experience for our guests.”

Nine experiences were funded in 2022 with an average of $17,000 granted to each experience. Experiences centred on food, live music, and other sources of entertainment.

Tashae Thompson, the BTA’s vice-president of experiences, said: “We are delighted to facilitate the next cohort of tourism entrepreneurs through our Experience Investment Programme. Each applicant is encouraged to be guided by the pillars of the National Tourism Plan.”

Those interested in applying can find all the necessary information on the BTA website.
