The island’s new commercial air service, BermudAir, has revealed an “overview of their operational framework, business model and future expansion plans” in talks with the Government.

BermudAir, which had its inaugural service to Boston on August 31, also serves Westchester, New York, and is scheduled to expand service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on September 22.

Wayne Furbert, the transport minister, spoke after he and tourism minister Vance Campbell met the air service development team.

The group convened last week for talks on boosting airlift for the off-season from November to March.

They discussed marketing, capacity, relationships with potential air service providers and winter hotel occupancy. Mr Furbert said the collaborative meetings were held each quarter.

Mr Furbert added: “We were particularly delighted to welcome representatives from BermudAir to the table.”

Air service development team members include the Bermuda Airport Authority, the airport manager, Skyport, the Bermuda Tourism Authority and the Bermuda Hotel Association.
