Doors will be opened to the public at the Fairmont Southampton hotel on Tuesday when furniture and TVs no longer needed at the resort will be given away.

The giveaway, from noon to 6pm, will be repeated on January 30 on a first-come, first-served basis.

It follows a charity donations made this month as Westend Properties, the owner of the site, prepares the property for an overhaul leading to the reopening of the hotel.

Complimentary guest room furniture offered to the community is to include king-size mattresses along with box springs and bed bases, as well as white fabric headboards and bedside tables — small and large.

Pictures and framed mirrors, medium and large, will be available along with desks and desk chairs, and patio tables and chairs.

Television sets on offer can be operated by HDMI input only.

All items will be available for collection in the front lobby of the hotel, and must be validated by hotel security at the resort’s front doors after being selected.

Items cannot be held, and must be taken from the property at the time of visit.

The hotel said it reserves the right to limit the number of items per person, particularly for high-demand items such as TVs.

Participants are responsible for their own trucking and related costs for moving their collected furniture.

Visitors are asked to follow safety guidelines by staff.

The Fairmont Southampton added that the hotel and staff are not liable for any injury, damage or loss incurred during the collection.
