A new award has been introduced to celebrate those working in hospitality and promote excellence in the industry.

The Bermuda Hospitality Service Standards Award is part of a collaboration between the Bermuda Tourism Authority and The Bermudian magazine.

The award programme is dedicated to “elevating service standards and celebrating service excellence within Bermuda’s vibrant tourism and hospitality sector” and represents a new division of The Bermudian’s annual Best of Bermuda Awards.

“Since 1991, The Bermudian magazine has proudly bestowed Best of Bermuda Awards to Bermuda’s most outstanding businesses, organisations and people,” Gabrielle Boyer, the editor, said.

“Our annual awards celebrate our unique island and those who contribute the most to its successes. We are proud to partner with the BTA to launch a brand-new hospitality division, starting with the Best of Bermuda Awards 2024, and we look forward to celebrating those businesses and people who excel in the hospitality and service sectors.”

Tracy Berkeley, the chief executive of the BTA, added: "The Bermuda Hospitality Service Standards Award marks a significant milestone in our collaboration with the Best of Bermuda Awards.

“It epitomises our dedication to enhancing the quality and innovation of our tourism services, thereby reaffirming Bermuda's status as a top-tier destination for discerning travellers globally."

The BTA said that the award emphasises customer-focused service by those in the industry.

There are three categories that aim to propel the award into a “driving force for service excellence”, enhancing visitor experiences and reinforcing Bermuda’s standing as an elite travel destination.

Davida O’Brien, tourism standards and training manager at the BTA, said: "We are immensely proud to align with the Best of Bermuda Awards in presenting the Bermuda Hospitality Service Standards Award, a shining emblem of service distinction in our sector.

"This new endeavour is a testament to our unwavering commitment to enhancing service standards, driving competitiveness and promoting sustainable expansion within the Bermuda tourism industry.“
