Bermuda ranked top OT holiday destination
Bermuda has been ranked the number one travel destination from a line-up of 11 British Overseas Territories.
The Telegraph reported the island received the top nod in terms of its “accessibility” and its “attractiveness to visitors”.
The report said travellers should visit Bermuda to experience “that reliable subtropical climate, mixed with a dose of history”.
It said visitors would also see first-hand the historical nature of the island in “four centuries of Britishness”, with St George’s described as “especially pretty”.
“St Peter’s Church and the State House — the former Parliament — still sing sweetly of the early 17th century,” the report said.
The Royal Naval Dockyard was listed as a standout spot for visitors to check out.
“Fully restored, it is now dozing through its retirement as a nest of shops and restaurants,” the report stated.
The British Virgin Islands occupied the second spot.
Visitors were told that a “guaranteed suntan, and the sense that you are holidaying somewhere rather exclusive” among the main reasons to visit the BVI.
On the opposite end of the ranking sheet was the Pitcairn Islands in the South Pacific.
Only 47 people inhabit the four islets which make up the territory, with everyone living on the main island of Pitcairn.
