Airlift falls in September as summer season slows
Several airlines are set to reduce airlift to the island next month, according to the September flight schedule.
The monthly timetable, released by Skyport, showed reduced flights between Bermuda and Miami, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Toronto and Fort Lauderdale, along with the end of seasonal service between Bermuda and the Azores.
According to the schedule, American Airlines will halt its daily service to Miami, effective September 2, while modifying its service between the island and Charlotte as well as Philadelphia.
While the airline will continue to offer daily service from Bermuda to Philadelphia, it will cut back flights from the US city to the island, from seven to four.
The airline will simultaneously reduce service from Bermuda to Charlotte to four weekly flights, while maintaining daily flights from the North Carolina city to the island.
The airline will, however, continue to offer daily service to and from New York and Washington.
Air Canada, meanwhile, will cut back its flights to Toronto from five weekly to four, effective September 5, ending its Thursday service.
BermudAir will reduce its service between Bermuda and Fort Lauderdale from three weekly flights to two.
The Bermudian-based airline’s flights to Boston, Westchester, Baltimore, Toronto and Halifax will continue unchanged.
Sata Airlines will end its seasonal service to Ponta Delgada next month, with the weekly summer service to end on September 10.
British Airways will continue daily service to London, while United Airlines will continue its daily service to Newark.
Meanwhile, JetBlue will continue to offer daily flights to both Boston and New York, while Delta Air Lines will maintain three weekly flights to Atlanta and four weekly flights to New York.
