Bermuda shorts and culture showcased in Vogue
An article in Vogue magazine this week showcased Bermuda shorts and other fashion inspired by the island.
In the birthplace of Bermuda shorts, the style is always in season, written by Alexander-Julian Gibbson, detailed how the shorts evolved from practical military attire into a staple of Bermudian life.
He wrote: “Suitable for the most casual to the most formal occasions, from a beach stroll to a school uniform and perhaps even a wedding look, Bermuda shorts are effectively the island’s stamp on the global fashion lexicon.
“But they also celebrate Bermudian culture and testify to the island’s ability to blend tradition with modernity, bridging past and present, function and fashion, island and world.”
The piece also featured photographs, taken by Chrisean Rose, of models and Hamilton Princess & Beach Club staff wearing clothing designed on the island and overseas.
The shots were taken at the resort as well as at Leamington Caves and the Newstead Belmont Hills.
Tracy Berkeley, the Bermuda Tourism Authority chief executive, said: “Seeing Bermuda’s fashion and culture celebrated in Vogue is a proud moment for all of us.
“Bermuda is more than a beautiful destination; it’s a place where heritage and modern creativity come together.
“From the sharp, tailored Bermuda shorts to our people's effortless style, this article captures what makes us unique.
“Having the Hamilton Princess team featured highlights the heart of Bermudian hospitality, where style and service go hand-in-hand.”
