Cruise schedule 2025: slow start but busy summer

Cruise ship visits are expected to decline slightly next year with a busier summer season and quieter winter compared with 2024.

The 2025 Cruise Ship Schedule includes 103 visits from “regular callers” and 76 visits from “occasional callers” for 179 total projected visits.

However, the schedule notes that it is subject to change.

While 179 visits represents a decrease from the 190 scheduled this year, it exceeds the actual number after cancellations.

Norwegian Cruise Lines, which recently expanded its cruise ship operating agreement with the island, represent a large share of the scheduled visits with Norwegian Jewel scheduled for 20 trips, the Norwegian Getaway making 16 voyages and the Norwegian Aqua making eight trips.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Prima and the Norwegian Epic are also expected.

The Liberty of the Seas is scheduled as the most frequent visitor, with 21 voyages, while the Vision of the Seas is expected to make 20 stops.

The Celebrity Silhouette and Carnival Venezia are both listed for eight trips to the island, with seven for the Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Pride.

The cruise calender kicks off on January 12 with the Ventura — the lone vessel that month.

February is similarly quiet, with one call from the Spirit of Discovery.

The season picks up in March with eight cruise ship visits, followed by 22 in April.

The peak of the 2025 season is expected to top this year, with 76 cruise ships calling between the start of June and the end of August, compared with 69 recorded during the same period for 2024.

The vast majority, including all regular visitors, will stop in Dockyard, with Hamilton only receiving 11 cruise ship visits over the year and St George’s scheduled for five.

Wayne Furbert, the Minister of Transport, said in September that cruise ships were expected to bring in an estimated 548,064 passengers for 2024.

He told the House of Assembly: “Comparing the 2023 season, which saw 183 calls and 41 cancellations with 525,413 passengers, to 2024, we project a marginal increase of 22,651 passengers or 4.3 per cent, and a small decrease in the number of cruise calls by six or 3.2 per cent.”

This month, the Norwegian Pearl, the Sky Princess and the AIDAmar will call on Dockyard.
